From Devastating Bomb to Floating Coat Rack

Easyglider steam iron touts new gripping method to prevent repetitive strain injury

Developed for Philips, the “Easyglider” by Portuguese Studio NAMIC is an innovative steam iron concept that features a new gripping method to prevent repetitive strain injury (RSI), making ironing safe and easy for the user. Presenting an ergonomically correct design with an ultra sleek base, the new iron is easier to carry and operate anywhere, anytime. Placing the steam controller (central button), activated by squeezing it against the core of the iron like a trigger, behind the fingers, the iron concept allows better control over the steam generated that constantly fluctuates between the minimum and maximum squeezing pressure on the button.

Kandil Lamp gives a new green life to humble kerosene lanterns

Paying homage to the conventional kerosene lantern, designer Lee Leong Chye of the Little Thoughts Group has come up with an artistic lamp that replaces kerosene with a cleaner power source, possibly LED light, to sustain the environment. Hailed as “Kandil,” the sustainable lamp is made entirely in wood, which gives it an artistic look to become a sculpture for contemporary living rooms. The new lamp is charged by pumping to capture the essence and spirit of the original kerosene lanterns. In short, the Kandil Lamp gives a new green life to humble kerosene lamps.
